Ross Lynn Clem

September 20, 1933 — March 26, 2023

Ross Lynn Clem of Freeburg Ohio passed away of natural causes on March 26, 2023 at Aultman Hospital, Canton Ohio, after a brief illness.  He is predeceased by his parents William and Juanita (Haxton) Clem and his sister Joanne (Clem) Brewer of Ft. Wayne, IN.  He is survived by his wife, Harriet Frances Clem (Miller); five children from a previous marriage: William, Elizabeth, Lynda, David, and Susan; and nine grandchildren.

Born September 20, 1933 in Danville, IN, Ross spent his youth in Fort Wayne, IN and Cincinnati, OH.  He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Economics in 1955, after which he served two years in the United States Army stationed in New Jersey, Texas, and Germany. Upon returning home to Alliance, OH, he took a position at Clem Lumber, Inc. as a salesman, then started Alliance Wholesalers & Millwork, Inc. with his father.  Ross later became president of the company.

Upon retirement, Ross renewed his studies by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Economics from Kent State University and established an Alliance-based internet-access company, Alliance Link, LLC, later sold to the Alliance Review newspaper.  As a member of the Alliance Jaycees, he supported the annual fireworks display and established The Friends of Rodman Public Library.  He also enjoyed playing the role of ‘The Freeburg Forecaster’ on a morning weather show on radio station WFAH. Ross enthusiastically enjoyed morning coffee at locally-owned establishments. His most recent favorite was Joe’s in Louisville. He and his wife divided their time between Freeburg, OH, and Santa Fe, NM. He loved both the rolling farmland of Northeast Ohio and the soulfulness of the high-desert plateau near Santa Fe.  His spirit will be found in both places.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home 75 South Union Ave Alliance, Ohio 44601. Friends and family may share condolences and memories online at www.ctcfuneral.com.
