Robert Wagner

October 10, 1931 — May 27, 2020

Robert L. Wagner, age 88, of Alliance passed away at 7:45 a.m., Wednesday morning May 27, 2020.

Born on October 10, 1931 to Lowell O. and Isabel D. (Sillery) Wagner, Robert spent most of his life in the Alliance and Homeworth area.

After graduating from Alliance High School, he began his military career serving in the United States Air Force.  Bob served his country for 23 years before his military retirement; he then managed a hardware store in Homeworth for another 14 years.

Bob was active in the Middle Sandy Presbyterian Church, in which he was a member for over 70 years.  He served as an Elder and many other boards of the church.  He was also a member of the Homeworth Lions Club, in which he won Lion of the Year and Melvin E. Jones Fellowship Award.  As well as a member of the George D. Worth Post of the American Legion, and Air Force Sergeant’s Association.

Bob was a friend to all, and he enjoyed fishing, gardening, golfing and watching sports.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons, Alec Robert Wagner of England, and Marc D. (Paula) Wagner of Johns Creek, GA; stepchildren, Robert (Debbie) Cover of Middletown, OH, Diane (Rodney) Cooper of Lakeside Marblehead, OH, and Jennifer (Thomas) McDonald of Alliance, OH; grandchildren, Beatrice, Robert, Emma, and John Wagner; step-grandchildren, Kara (Matt) Miller, Sam (Yvonne) Cooper, Allyson Fites and Cory Fites; step-great-grandchildren, Melody, Avery, Amya, Kaiya, Keilana, Madison, and Greyson; brother, Ronald (Elaine) Wagner of Homeworth, OH; and sister, Carol Ringer of Sebring, OH.

Preceding him in death were his parents; loving wife Doris J. (Stryffeler) Wagner, whom he married March 4, 1978 and who passed away December 31, 2018; and brother Richard Wagner.

Funeral service will be held Saturday May 30, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home, with Pastor Tom Sawyer officiating.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Highland Memorial Park.
