Neal “Greg” Bluhm, age 73, of Alliance, died at 5:35 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Rose Lane Rehab in Massillon.
He was born March 7, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to Norman Bluhm and Thelma Nadine (Harris) Bluhm.
A 1966 graduate of Highland High School, in Medina, Ohio Greg served in the U. S. Army from 1968-1970, with tours in Germany and Vietnam.
As a teenager, Greg built his own HAM Radio and throughout his life enjoyed talking with people all over the world. This led to his work in Electrical/Electronic fields, retiring from Dingee Machine in New Hampshire where we worked wiring firetrucks, which he enjoyed very much. Greg was a Pilot, with his love of flying coming from his parents who were also Pilots, and something he had in common with his brothers Noel and Curt.
Greg was a self-sufficient true Mountain Man, living in a 200 year old log home without electricity or phones. He loved hiking the mountains with his pet goats. He lived in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont area until retiring in 2014, when he moved back to Alliance to be near his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Krysta Hayes, and her son, Xander of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; siblings, Noel Bluhm of Alliance, Curtis (Karen) Bluhm of North Benton, and their son, Kyle, Nancy Hubbs Shapiro of Paris, and her children Erin and Ryan, Karl Bluhm of North Benton, and his children, Tyler, Alicia and Samantha, Nelson Bluhm of Minerva, Clayton Bluhm of Alliance, and Henry Bluhm of Alliance, and his daughter, Amanda;
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Milt Shapiro.
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
