Mary Jane Klein

Mary Jane Klein, age 95, of Fairfield, Ohio, and formerly of Alliance, passed away at 4:40 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021 at her home in Fairfield.

She was born October 5, 1925 in Alliance, Ohio to Ben and Mary Jane (LaMotte) Gorrell.

A graduate of Alliance High School, Mary Jane attended Mount Union College, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Kent State University.

She taught Elemenetary School in Alliance at the Morgan, South Lincoln and North Lincolns schools before retiring after 25 years, followed by volunteering as a school office administrative assistant and then volunteering at the Early Learning Center, completing her service after her 94th birthday in 2019.

She devoted more than 55 years to the education and learning of Alliance children, enjoying every minute with them and the people of Alliance schools.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline (Ralph) Simpson of Fairfield, Ohio; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Detchon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sydney Klein; and her daughters, Sydney Jacqueline Klein and Margaret Cline.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday July 2, 2021 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Fr. Kip Colgrove officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
