Lois Calloway Myers

July 20, 1924 — August 27, 2021

Alliance: Lois Calloway (Everett) Myers, 97, passed away on August 27, 2021 at Copeland Oaks, in Sebring, Ohio, where she had been a resident since 2017. Lois was born in Sunnyside, Georgia on July 20, 1924 to parents, John E. Everett and Lois C. Everett. The family moved to Alliance, Ohio and Lois was raised from a young age in Alliance. She graduated from Alliance High School in 1942. She attended Mount Union College where she met her future husband, Richard F. Myers. While he was serving in the Navy during World War-II, Richard and Lois were married on September 21, 1944. After Naval service, they made their first home on a farm in Beloit, Ohio and moved to Alliance in 1958.

Lois was an avid golfer, loved playing bridge, and was a beautiful seamstress, that could design and make anything. She was a founding member of Town and Country Garden Club. She always had a beautifully landscaped, blooming yard. She enjoyed flower arranging, plants, needlework, interior decorating, entertaining, and crafts. She was a loyal University of Mount Union supporter.  She was a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her delicious chocolate pie, chocolate cake, fried chicken, biscuits, and many other family favorites. She was very artistic and designed three homes in her lifetime. She will be remembered as a fun loving, vibrant addition to any gathering and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of over 70 years, Richard F. Myers, on February 13, 2015; and her brother, U S Naval Captain, retired, John E. Everett Jr., of Frostproof, Florida in May 2019.

She is survived by her daughter, Candiss Fites of Beloit, Ohio; her son, Richard L. Myers and wife, Lenny Ann Myers, of Lakeland, Florida; Granddaughter, Valerie Sturgeon and husband, Eric Sturgeon, of Beloit, Ohio; and great grandson, Caleb Sturgeon, of Beloit, Ohio.

There will be no calling hours. A private family service and burial will be held at the family’s convenience. Internment will take place at East Goshen Friends Church Cemetery, Beloit, Ohio. Memorial gifts in her honor may be made to the University of Mount Union, 1972 Clark Ave., Alliance, Ohio 44601 or East Goshen Friends Church, 16800 S. Range Rd., Beloit, Ohio 44609.
