Geraldine L. Govern

Geraldine L. Govern, age 81, of Alliance, passed away at 12:59 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at University Hospitals Geauga in Chardon, Ohio.

Geraldine was born October 9, 1939 in Marlboro to Richard and Mildred (Myers) Schisler.

Geraldine was the former sexton of Marlboro Cemetery for 52 years. She retired in 2008. Geraldine was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church where she was a former trustee and helped with funeral dinners. She also served on The Marlboro Memorial Day Committee. Geraldine enjoyed quilting, sewing and spending time with her family and her dog, Hazel.

Survivors include her daughters, Jodi Govern, and Kimberly (Eric) Niskanen; her son, John “Rick” (Jeanine) Govern; and three grandchildren, Tyler Niskanen, Nicole Funk and Bryce Reed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward Govern; and her brother Lee Schisler.

The family will receive friends at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. A private family service will be held. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
