Erik D. O'Brien

Erik Daniel O’Brien, age 44, of Alliance, passed away on May 21, 2022.

He was born on March 7, 1978 in Canton to Daniel and Denise (Boyce) O’Brien.

Erik graduated from Marlington High School in 1996. While growing up, he attended Louisville First Baptist Church and accepted the Lord, was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and was on the Marlington wrestling team. Erik attended training in Philadelphia before he began his lifelong career as an engineer and conductor for CSX. Erik attended the Louisville Baptist Temple, where he met his wife, Catherine. He was a member of the NRA and liked going to the shooting range with his son, Caiden. Erik also enjoyed skydiving and completed his first jump with his father at 16 years old. He loved playing with his dog, Bentley, and taking him on walks.  Most of all, Erik loved spending time with his son, wife, parents and family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his parents; his wife, Catherine (Welton), who he was with for many years and married on June 12, 2018; his son, Caiden John O’Brien; brother, Shane (Jodi) O’Brien; father-in-law, Michael Welton; mother-in-law, Patricia Welton; sister-in-law, Carolyn Welton; brother-in-law, Michael (Shannon) Welton Jr.; nephews, James and Cohen; several nieces and nephews on the Welton side; aunts and uncles, Joe O’Brien, Connie (Robert) Christy, Kimberly (Jay) Quiggle, Dwayne (Edna) Boyce and Robin (Chet) Brown; and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Alberta O’Brien and Johnie and Ermal Boyce.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 27th at Louisville Baptist Temple (6565 Columbus Rd NE, Louisville, OH 44641) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be private with Erik and Catherine’s mentor, Pastor Mike Harmon officiating. Erik will be laid to rest at Fairmount Memorial Park.

A fund for Erik’s son is being created, checks may be made to the funeral home with Caiden’s name in the memo.
