Dieter Teutsch

September 18, 1934 — June 14, 2022

Alliance

The man, the myth, the legend, the cat with 9 lives, has left this world to be with his Lord and his one and only love, Carol. Dieter, who survived fleeing in a boxcar during World War II, being hit by a train, run over by a tractor, numerous falls from roofs and trees, kicks from cows, open heart surgery, and multiple car accidents, died surrounded by loved ones on June 14th, 2022 from natural causes.

Dieter was born in 1934 in Sachish Reagan, Transylvania and immigrated to the US in 1957. He was then drafted in 1959 to serve in the Army in Korea. Dieter then served in the Ohio National Guard for 7 years.  He returned to Alliance after the war where bought his beloved farm and worked for Alliance Machine Company. He served as union president there for many years. He was a lifelong farmer and graciously shared his love of farming by allowing others to help bale hay on the absolute hottest days of the summer, chasing cows with alarming regularity, and the occasional slaughter of a pig or two throughout the years. He also loved to share the peace and tranquility of his farm by inviting everyone to visit, walk in the woods, hunt crayfish or just sit on the porch swing and share a beer.

Dieter is survived by his children, Christopher and Angie Teutsch, Jennifer and Rob Mizicko, and Brian and Christina Teutsch; grandchildren, Alex, Sam, Collin, Hannah, Sarah, Jonathon, and Eric; sisters, Hildegard, Ingrid, and Irmgard; brothers, Eric (Suzie) and Gunter (Anna Lena); numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; the love of his life, Carol; his brothers, Herwart, Helmut, Gerhart and Sigmar.

Calling hours will be held on June 20th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Abiding Saviour Lutheran Church, where Dieter was a lifelong member, at 11:00 a.m. on June 21st. His casket will be transported in “Old Blue”, Dieter’s 1991 farm truck, past the other love of his life, the Elm Inn, for one final “view of a brew” on its way to Highland Memorial Park. He will be laid to rest next to his beloved Carol, in the plots that he bought from a friend back in 1980 while sharing a six pack of Schiltz in the basement.

Flowers can be sent to the funeral home, donations sent to Abiding Saviour Lutheran Church, or simply sit on the porch swing with the ones you love and have a couple beers and belly laughs in his memory.

Family and friends are invited to a final “Farm Farewell” celebration of Dieter’s life at his farm in Maximo on Tuesday, June 21st at 6:00 p.m. Please bring a dish to share, lawn chair to sit on and enjoy a walk in the woods, a swing on the porch or even stick around for the fireworks.

You will be missed dear Dieter, more than words can ever express. “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”

Arrangements are entrusted to Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home 75 South Union Ave Alliance, Ohio 44601.
