Catherine J. (Ray) Wayne

Catherine J. (Ray) Wayne, age 96, formerly of Alliance, passed away at 5:05 a.m., Monday, January 13, 2020 at Briarwood Health Care in Stow.

She was born June 25, 1923, in Willits, California, to James and Florence (Hert) Ray.

Catherine was a 1941 graduate of Minerva High School and was employed for more than 25 years as a cook and waitress at the former Shaffer’s Diner in Alliance and also worked at McCaskey Register.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1949 and the Knights Templar Ladies and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her siblings, Calvin Ray, Esther McFarland, and Ruth Beard.

In addition to her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her 1st husband, A. Sinclair who died in 1972; daughter, Debra Stewart who died in 1992 and siblings, Ed Ray, Lois Waltz and James Ray Jr.

An Eastern Star Service will be held at Noon Saturday, January 18, 2019 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with the funeral service immediately following.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park at a later date.
