Barbara J. Kommel, age 91, of Sebring, passed away at 9:55 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2020, at Crandall Medical Center.
She was born June 20, 1929, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late William and Susan (Worley) Wood. Barbara was a graduate of Alliance High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for both McCaskey Register and Alliance Machine Companies until retiring. Then, with her late husband, Dwight L. Kommel, established Kommel Realty and Auction Company in 1973, which they owned until their retirement in 2008.
She was a past president of Quota Club here in Alliance and also in El Monte, California. She was a member of Pine Lake Christian Church. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren most of all.
Survivors include three sons, Dwight (Patti) Kommel Jr. of Beloit, William R. (Patti) Kommel of California and Gregory J. (Sheri) Kommel of Marlboro; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters, Celia (Ronald) Knight of Sebring, Jeanette Burton of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 69 years, Dwight L. Kommel, whom she married June 20, 1948, and who passed away February 13, 2017; her daughter, Cathy Feiock; and sisters, Thelma Reed and JoAnn Qualk.
A private graveside will be held with a memorial service to follow at a later date.
Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
