William "Bill" Russell Carr, 69, of Beloit, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Born on May 28, 1956, in Alliance, Ohio, Bill was the beloved son of the late Francis "Jim" and Carol (Greenawalt) Carr. He was a 1974 graduate of Alliance high school. In 2020, he retired from Damon Industries after a long, accomplished, and fulfilling career. Bill was known for his strong work ethic, sharp wit, and unwavering loyalty.
For 48 beautiful years, Bill shared his life with the love of his life, his wife, Joni (Pauley) Carr. Married in 1977, they built a life full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Their favorite place was their home on Westville Lake, where they enjoyed peaceful days fishing, boating, and spending time with their joyful and goofy yellow lab, Ziva.
Bill was a man whose presence filled a room. His larger-than-life personality, quick humor, and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back-or the exact bolt or washer you didn't know you needed. He never met a stranger who didn't become a friend, and his stories and jokes will be told for years to come.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joni; his daughters, Kelly (Jay) Altstadt of Lakewood, OH, and Amanda (Kevin) Carr Freeman of Homeworth, OH; his sister, Deborah Martin of Alliance, OH; three cherished granddaughters, Kassidy Nagaj, Gabrielle Altstadt, and Skyelar Altstadt; and his grandson, Lucas Altstadt; along with some wonderful cousins.
We would be remiss not to mention his best friend of over 50 years and brother-in-law, Jeff Dudley. Together they shared a bond filled with laughter, mischief, and holiday traditions-most notably playing the "hootscow whistle" and their legendary Christmas shopping adventures for their wives.
Also surviving is a lifelong friend and neighbor, Jason Erb, who began as the boy next door and grew into a cherished part of the family. Over the years, and back again as a neighbor, Jason's presence remained constant. Bill loved you deeply and was so proud of the man, father, and now grandfather you have become.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Carol Carr, and his sister, Catherine Watson.
Bill was a wonderful and kind soul-the best husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend anyone could ever ask for. His absence leaves a space in our hearts that can never be filled, but his love, laughter, and light will forever guide us.
A service will be held on July 5, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with a visitation two hours prior.
