William R. Baker

William R. Baker, age 93, of Avon, passed away on January 26, 2022.

He was born on May 22, 1928 in Alliance to Raymond and Irene (Schubert) Baker.

William graduated from Alliance High School and then attended Kent State University night school. He worked for B&W at Rush street as a layout workman and later at Burger Iron in Mogadore until his retirement.  William was a member of Atwater United Methodist Church and Alliance BPOE #467. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Wilma, whom he married June 10, 1961; his children, Cheryl Libis Campbell, Larry Libis, Terri Libis Osborn and Jill Baker Parker; seven granddaughters, Paula, Courtney, Lindsay, Jeni, Rachel, Jaime and Katie; and thirteen great-grandchildren, Abby, Alden, Luke, Clara, Sophie, Caleb, Landen, Hadley, Ethan, Marsaili, Hope, Ellery, Nevin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Gabrielson; and brother, Kenneth Baker.

A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, January 28th at 1:30 p.m. with a   visitation one hour prior.
