Wilford W. "Chooch" Edwards, age 77, of Sebring, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2012, at Canterbury Villa.
He was born March 8, 1935, in Uhrichsville, Ohio, to Wilse and Sylvia (Salsberry) Edwards.
Mr. Edwards was employed at Transue Williams Stamping Plant for 33 years and formerly a Union President before retiring.
A member of Maranatha Church of God, Chooch loved sports, swimming, music, and traveling, playing games; especially checkers, watching westerns and old movies, and spending time with his best friend, his dog, Gizmo.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda K. (Sowards) Edwards, whom he married March 17, 2000; children, Craig W. Edwards and Melanie Edwards; stepchildren, Edd (Stephanie Davis) Commeans and Angela (Kevin) Anderson-Commeans; nine grandchildren, Ethan, Rachel, Marissa, Tyler, Cory, Courtney, Krystal (Brian), Tiffany and Kevin; three great-grandchildren, Caiden, Callie, and Corbin; nine brothers and sisters; sisters-in-law, Bernice Oslund, Donna (Bill) Yahley, Lana (Tom) Church and Tracy Sowards; and brothers-in-law, Tony Sowards and Martin (Michelle) Sowards.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Phyllis C. Edwards; grandson, Cody Joe Edward Anderson; and stepfather, Raymond Garbrandt.
A private service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Caldwell officiating. Interment will be at Sebring Grandview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 408 9th St. SW Canton, Oh. 44707 or to the Maranatha Church of God, P.O. Box 2244, Alliance, Oh. 44601.
