Walter L. Ghering, age 81, of Alliance, died at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 3, 1930, in Edinboro, PA, to Boyd and Luceil (Darrow) Ghering.
Walter was a graduate of Penn State University earning his PhD in Physics and worked as a research scientist for Babcock and Wilcox.
He served in the United States Navy and was a graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Walter also enjoyed woodworking and playing golf.
Survivors include his brother, Boyd W. (Sandra) Ghering, Jr. of Doylestown, PA and his sister, Carol (Travis) Ghering Young of Altoona, PA; five nephews; and two nieces.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Jerry; and sister, Eris.
