Virginia R. Carlile

Virginia R. Carlile, age 90, passed away on October 24, 2022.

She was born on February 12, 1932, in Alliance, to Howard and Leota (Pierce) Bowhall.

A graduate of Alliance High School, Virginia married Gene on October 28, 1951. Many people would remember Virginia from her years spent at the Limaville Post Office, retiring in the position of Postmaster. She and Gene spent many years traveling to Florida. Countless hours were spent searching the flea markets and antique stores for oil lamps, salt and pepper shakers, spice containers and whatever the latest collection happened to be. Following the Cleveland Indians was another favorite pastime. Earlier years would find Virginia and Gene out cruising on the motorcycle or in one of their antique cars. Virginia attended Cornerstone Christian Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gene; sons, Dan (Deb) and Ron (Jeannette) Carlile; grandchildren, Derek (Nikki) Carlile, Matthew (Chandra) Carlile, Lindsey (Chris) Patterson and Kelsey Carlile; great-grandchildren, Kensi and Trevor Carlile, Marley Patterson, and Tenley and Cooper Whitfield; sister, Kay; and several nieces and nephews who knew her as “Aunt Ginny”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughters, Sandra Kay and Cathy Jo; and siblings, Jeanette, Dolores, Richard, Robert and Sonny.

A visitation will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Sunday, October 30th from 3:30-5:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Rex Morey will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park at a later date.
