Thomas O. "Tom" Mohr, age 96, passed away peacefully at home on August 11, 2026. He was born in Alliance, Ohio, on January 4, 1930 to the late George and Erna (Bachofen) Mohr. He attended Alliance City Schools and remained an area resident for most of his life.
Tom was self-employed as a bricklayer. He was also an avid pilot. After working as a bricklayer, he opened his own excavation company, Mohr Excavating. He was very talented and would operate dump trucks, backhoes and bulldozers. Before his retirement, he drove for Montrose.
Tom was a snow bird and spent most winters in Bonita Springs and Zepher Hills, Florida. In his free time he loved to create many different crafts made entirely from seashells. He would comb the beach for hours collecting seashells that he could use for jewelry items and birdhouses. Many of his creations can be found around Alliance as he would often gift them while he was out and about. He also crafted many clocks out of cypress wood. Tom's faith was deeply rooted and he was a faithful member of Silver Park Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Mohr; and his brothers, Jim and Harry Mohr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lou (Timothy) Slater, Bonnie Russell, Lee Gonzalez and her son, Noah; son, Dan (Nancy) Leech; brother, Owen "Fuzz" Mohr; as well as countless grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.
Family and friends may visit at Cassady Turkle Christian Funeral Home (75 S Union Avenue, Alliance, Ohio 44601) on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 10am until 12pm. Tom's funeral service will begin at 12pm with Pastor Vernon Teagarden officiating. He will then be laid to rest with his wife at Highland Memorial Park (264 S 12th St, Beloit, OH 44609).
