Samiya Linda Harris, affectionately known as "Baby Girl," was born on October 27, 1983, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Vernon Russell Ingram and Linda Sue Mitchell-Ingram. She was the third child of their union, bringing light, joy, and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Samiya was a proud graduate of Alliance High School in 2007. Following her graduation, she heeded the call of duty and enlisted in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Her courage and unwavering dedication took her to Ft. Lee, Virginia where she served as an instructor at the Basic Non-Commissioned Officer Course (BNCOC). Samiya then served with distinction in the prestigious 82nd Airborne Division deploying twice to Iraq, first in 2008 and again in 2011. In her final assignment, she was assigned to the Army Cyber Protection Brigade as the Brigade S4. Throughout her illustrious military career, Samiya earned numerous awards and honors, ultimately achieving the rank of Master Sergeant.
In addition to her military service, Samiya sought higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in Human Development from American Military University. She was a master of balancing her educational pursuits with her commitment to her military service.
Samiya’s spirit of adventure extended beyond the battlefield. After her military career, she ventured into entrepreneurship, founding her own travel agency, Posh Vet Travels, to share her love of travel and exploration with others. Her business was a reflection of her adventurous soul and desire to help others experience the beauty of the world.
She shared six years of marriage with Jimmie Harris II, a relationship filled with memories, growth, and love. Samiya’s most treasured legacy, however, is the love she had for her children: Kynan, Amiya, and Alaya. They will carry forward her spirit of adventure, love, and service in all that they do.
Samiya departed this life on September 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and devotion that will be cherished by all who knew her. Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Jimmie Harris II; her children, Kynan Bush II, Amiya Bush, and Alaya Harris; her stepchildren, Jeremiah Harris and Hae’yalah Harris; and extended family: Richard Snodgrass (Uncle), Patricia Tucker (Aunt), Brenda Hill (Aunt), William Hill, Thomasina Wilson (Aunt), Marcell (Muriel) Mitchell (Brother), Rahmeen (Michael) Loudermilk (Brother), her goddaughter Parker Harden, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends from near and far.
