S. Laverne Ramser

S. Laverne Ramser passed away on December 12, 2025.

She was born September 6, 1930 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania to Dominic Virgile and Mary (Grenaldo) Virgile.

A graduate of Dunbar Twp. High School, Laverne worked at Lo Dano's Footwear for thirty years.

A member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church, Laverne was a member of the Alliance Elks, and Past President of the Elks Auxiliary.

Laverne never met a stranger; she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed bowling, traveling and bocce.

Family includes her husband, Russell E. "Bud" Ramser, whom she married July 11, 1982; children, Cindy (Larry) Weatherspoon, Cheri (Craig) Mazzei of Virginia, Valerie (Ryan) Jacquin of South Carolina, and Tom (Lynn) Sykes of Virginia; and many grand and great-grandchildren.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Elmer Sykes, her daughter, Peggy Sykes Sunderland, an infant son, seven sisters, and three brothers.

A visitation will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Thursday, December 18th from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 19th at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Thomas Dyer will officiate.

Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
