Roger A. Hollender, age 75, of Alliance, died at 11:55 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born April 20, 1937, in Alliance, to Floyd and Eileen (Brothers) Hollender.
Roger attended Minerva High School and worked for General Motors Corporation in Lordstown before retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Alliance Church of Christ and enjoyed golfing.
Roger was a United States Navy Veteran from 1954 to 1958, and served as a radar man.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille (McConnell) Hollender of Alliance; sons, Stephen (Jodie) Hollender of Ocala, Fla., Roger (Paula) Hollender II of Deerfield, Kenneth Hollender of Alliance, Floyd (Kerry) Hollender II of Ravenna, and Victor (Lori) Hollender of Texas; daughter, Valerie Howell of Kent; two step-daughters, Bonnie (Jim) Liebhart of Alliance and Vickie (George) Myers of Clarksville, TN; step-son, Gary (Penny) Smith of Ft. Myers, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sisters, Elaine (Albert) Grunden of Carrollton, Karen (Robert) Klots of Louisville and Bessie Hollender, and Sheila (Randy) Phillips, both of Minerva; brothers, George (Karlene) Hollender of Cleveland and William (George Ann) Hollender of Leavittsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Margaret Hollender, who died December 15, 2006.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Lowe of Alliance Church of Christ officiating. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Interment will be at Deerfield Cemetery.
