Patricia Lou Schmitt

Patricia Lou Schmitt, age 82, of Alliance, Ohio died on February 9, 2022. She was born on March 29, 1939, in Martin’s Ferry, OH to James Edward Woods Jr. and Helen Elizabeth (Hanson) Woods.

The family resided in Bridgeport, Belmont County, OH.  In 1948, “Patty” moved to Atwater, Portage County, OH where she attended Waterloo Schools and graduated as class salutatorian in 1957.

She married Roger W. Schmitt on August 17, 1958. While raising their family, she served as the leader of Girl Scout troop 817 and a Boy Scout den mother. Later, she was employed as an administrative secretary in the business office at Mt. Union College, followed by employment at the Genie Company.

Her hobbies over the years included sewing, crocheting, reading, genealogical research, crafting, and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; and two children, Lori (David) Drawl of Cortland OH and Mark (Rebecca) Schmitt of Edgewater, MD. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Peter (Patricia) Schillig of Grand Junction, CO, Paul (Melissa) Schillig and Chelsea (Micah) Burrage both of Las Vegas NV; and four great-grandchildren, Liam Burrage, Colin & Weston Schillig, and Bryce Schillig. In addition, two step-granddaughters, Nicole Drawl of Florida and Christine (Peter) Drawl-Krutschnitt of Maryland.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, James E. Woods III.

A service will be held at Cassaday- Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Monday, February 14th at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Freddie Rodriguez will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Beloit.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Hospital for Children .
