Patricia “Pat” Ann Ray, age 91 passed away on May 1, 2026, in Canton, Ohio. Born on May 29, 1934, she lived a life filled with meticulous organization, loving relationships, and thoughtful engagements with those around her.
Patricia was a proud graduate of Minerva High School, Class of 1952.
She dedicated many years of her career as a telephone switchboard operator, working in various locations including Minerva, Timken Mercy Hospital, and the former United Bank. Her work was a testament to her organized nature and ability to manage complex tasks with efficiency.
Throughout her life, Pat was a member of the Beachwood Christian Church in Alliance, OH, where she served on various committees.
Her hobbies included crocheting beautiful afghans, crafting complicated cross-stitch creations, and reading extensively often completing more than a dozen books a month. She also enjoyed playing games on her iPad. She remained an enthusiastic fan of the Cleveland Guardians and The Ohio State Buckeyes Football, showcasing her enduring spirit and passion. She was also an agonized fan of the Browns.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William "Bill" Ray in 2006 (they were married 11/4/1952 and enjoyed 53 years of a loving marriage); her parents, George and Elenora Haldeman; and her siblings, Lena Atwell, Virginia "Din" Buxton-Powell, Betty Richardson, and Dr. Jack Haldeman.
She is survived by her children, Dana (Pam) Ray, Mark (Elizabeth) Ray, and Beth (Richard) Tomczyk; three grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; and two step-greatgrandchildren, all of whom will miss her dearly.
Patricia's life was a beautiful example of faithfulness and love, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 5th from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
A graveside service will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice, 4369 Whipple Ave NW, Canton, OH 44718.
