Patricia “Pat” Ann (Porter) Gabelt, 94, of Dawson, PA, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Summa Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
She was born March 26, 1932, in Connellsville, a daughter of the late John R. and Thelma (Wilkins) Porter.
Pat was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church and married James Francis Gabelt there on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 1958. She was a 1950 graduate of I.C. High School.
She worked for Connellsville Sportswear, Connellsville State Hospital, and retired from Torrance State Hospital.
Pat is survived by her son, Scott (Amy) Gabelt of Alliance; four granddaughters, Carrie (Christopher) Tucker of Alliance, Cassie (Christopher) Gabelt Byard of San Diego, Anna (Tyler) Gabelt Martin of Louisville, and Emma (Brett) George of Johnstown; three great-grandsons, Aaron Tucker, Ezra McIntosh, and Mack George; two great-granddaughters, Ellie Tucker and Joanie George; a niece, Patti (Mongell) Hatfield of Connellsville; a nephew, Stevie Mongell of Connellsville, and many other nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Anna for caregiving in Ohio, Patti and Stevie for caregiving in Pennsylvania, and Pat’s neighbors on McGill Ave., Dawson for their friendship and love through the years.
In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband, James Gabelt; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” Porter, and John R. "Bo" Porter; and seven sisters, Sally Vilella, Calista Miller, Thelma "Siddie" Widmer, Jeannine Mongell, Betty Ciceretti, Joanne Wisilosky, and Nancy Porter.
A funeral mass will be held on June 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church in Connellsville, PA.
