Patricia Ailsa Dawson

Patricia Ailsa (Neill) Dawson, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and woman of faith, entered into glory with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026, at the age of 100, from her residence at Abernethy Laurels in Newton, North Carolina.

Born in Alliance, Ohio, on March 13th, 1926, she was the daughter of Robert and Blanche Neill. Her unusual middle name, Ailsa, was inspired by Ailsa Craig, a Scottish island near her grandparents' home connecting her to her family's Scottish heritage.

Patricia graduated from Alliance High School and trained as a nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland. She worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery at Alliance City Hospital before retiring to raise her four children. She and her beloved husband, Gilbert H. Dawson, were married for 46 years. He preceded her in death in 2000.

Patricia's Christian faith was central to her life. She loved studying the Bible, attending Bible conferences and Moody Bible Institute, and encouraging others in their faith.

She cared deeply about her family's well-being. She made nutritious food an important part of family life and encouraged each of her children to be active, explore sports and other interests and develop their own gifts and talents. She was an avid reader throughout her life and fostered a love of reading in all of her children, encouraging curiosity, exploration, and the joy of a good book. She loved poetry, music, and theater, and had an artistic flair, encouraged creativity and individuality.

She is survived by her children, Gilbert (Janice) Dawson, Gail Grundstrom, John (Sally) Dawson, and David (Regina) Dawson; grandchildren Christian Dawson, Ava Dawson, Thomas Dawson, Susan (Ashish) Tyagi, Joanna (Frankie Rodriguez) Grundstrom, Eric (Leslie) Grundstrom, Amy (Zach) Floweree, Rachel Dawson, James (Danika) Dawson, John Hayden Dawson, Annie Laurie (Josiah) Stam, Benjamin Dawson, and Bethany (Levi) Chapman; great-grandchildren Naveen, Neil and Nayan Tyagi, Gilbert and Eliot Floweree, Titus and Everly Dawson, and Cornelius Stam.

Also surviving are her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Reda and Patricia Koscis, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gilbert H. Dawson, her parents Robert and Blanche Neill, and her sister Jean Mason.

A service celebrating Patricia's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on September 25th, 2026, at Cassaday Turkle Christian Funeral Home with visitation beginning one hour before the service.

Interment will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Her life was marked by faith, family, curiosity, and love, a legacy she leaves with her family to carry forward.
