Norman "Mac" McLeod, age 79, of Alliance, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at Alliance Community Hospital.
He was born March 25, 1933, in Beaver, PA to Norman and Ella (McCauley) McLeod.
Mac was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and kind neighbor. He attended Alliance High School, The University of Mount Union and Kent State University where he earned his Master's Degree. He was a lifelong educator in the Alliance, Marlington and Louisville public school systems. He loved his students and they loved him back.
Up until recently, he was an avid reader, golfer, gardener and active member of Concorde. A member of the First United Presbyterian Church for over 60 years, Mac was an elder, deacon and served on many committees.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne (Ameser) McLeod, whom he married August 4, 1964. Also surviving are his sons; Jeff (LaVon) McLeod of North Canton, OH and Steve (Julie) McLeod of Arundel, ME; grandchildren, Kenna, Andrew, Norah and Alec McLeod; brother, William (Jackie) McLeod of Atwater; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bertram, Herbert and James McLeod; and one sister, Theresa McLeod.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 at First United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jim McCurdy officiating. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park. Following the services at Highland Memorial Park, there will be a Celebration of Life at the First United Presbyterian Church.
