Myrel E. Allison, age 91, of Alliance, passed away at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 2012, at Community Care Center.
She was born May 23, 1921, in Alliance, Ohio, to Willard and Mabel (Gue) Corbitt and has resided in Alliance since 1982.
Myrel, a graduate of Atwater High School and a graduate of Bohecker Business School, was employed as a clerk for Portage County Health Department and the Alliance Police Department.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Calligraphy Alliance, Alliance Poetry Guild, Internationl Mensa, and Order of the Eastern Star. She had an article published in Guidepost magazine and was a lay minister for the Methodist church.
Myrel enjoyed knitting, crocheting, painting, singing, drawing and helping people. She was proud to be known as a "Rosie the Riveter."
Survivors include her children, Frank (Judy) Allison III of Atwater, Eric (Lisa) Allison of Sammaish, WA and Cynthia (Valdon) Landes of Ft. Collins, CO; six grandchildren, Diane, Frank, Kimberly, Brittany, Corbett and Andrew; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Dylan, Noah, Katie, Gywneth, Kyle and Molly.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Arthur, Melvin and Harry Corbitt; and daughters, Dorothy and Jennifer Allison.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
