Michael P. Harsh (“Mike”), 72, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Bel Air Care Center, after a long and courageous battle with diabetes.
Mike was born on February 4, 1953, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina (Marine Corps base) to Paul and Dolores (Gwynne) Harsh.
A 1971 graduate of Alliance High School, he played trumpet during the AHS band’s “Glory Days,” traveling across the country to perform in cities such as New York and Chicago. He graduated in 1972 from McKinley Technical Institute, where he studied computer programming, and later continued his education through adult classes at Mount Union.
Mike’s career in the computer field included positions at the former First National City Bank, Da-Tronics, and Carnation Computer. He later owned and operated his own business, “Web Creations Plus,” until vision loss from diabetic retinopathy led to his retirement.
A lifelong member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, Mike also devoted time to coaching his sons’ Hot Stove League baseball teams. He was a passionate supporter of Cleveland sports—loyal to the Browns, the Cavs, and especially his beloved “Tribe.”
Mike had a deep love for dogs, and shared a special bond with his best buddy and granddog, Dewey.
Through all his health challenges, Mike never lost his quick, dry wit, which stayed with him until the very end.
Mike is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Nancy, whom he married on August 16, 1975; his children, Joseph (Nicole) Harsh, Andrew (Missy) Harsh, and Shannon (Ben) Flanagan; grandchildren, Mya, Gavan, Emma, and Kegan; his mother; sisters, Cheryl Harsh and Lori (Mike) Chlysta; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and his younger brother, David.
Per his request, there will be no calling hours. A small private service will be held, with interment at Highland Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s memory to Aultman Alliance Hospice.
