Mary V. Gainor, age 87, of Alliance, died at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Alliance Community Hospital.
She was born September 29, 1925, in Dearborn, Michigan, to Joseph and Mary (Simon) David.
Mary was educated in Romania and employed by the former Alliance Manufacturing (Genie Company).
She was a member of the St. Nicholas Romanian Orthodox Church and the United Romanian Transylvania Society.
Survivors include her sister, Aurelia Dobrila of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Vulcu, whom she married June of 1947, son, Virgil G. Vulcu; and a daughter, Virginia Vulcu.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2013, at St. Nicholas Romanian Church with The Very Rev. Pantelimon Stanciu officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. A Saracusta Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Alliance City Cemetery.
