Martha Jane Tune

Martha Jane Tune, age 97, passed away on October 31, 2022 in Tampa, FL peacefully surrounded by love and family.   She was known as Jane to all.

Born on August 25, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter to Eli Holmes and Wanda Leota (Smith) Orr.

Jane graduated from Albion College majoring in Music and was an accomplished pianist.  During her time at Albion, she met her husband George A. Tune whom she married in 1951.  They settled in Alliance in 1957.  She loved spending time with family, attending concerts and playing bridge monthly with a group of friends since the 1960s.

Jane worked in various careers including music education, accounting, retail, and as a librarian for Parkway Elementary School. In her retirement, she was very active in the Adult Literacy Program and the income tax program at the Alliance Senior Center.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Diane (Rev. Ted) Kerr and Carol (Frank) Tune; two grandchildren, Nathan Deka and Erica (Rob) Gillette; three great grandsons Isaac, Micah, and Elliott Gillette; a brother Dr. Paul Orr; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister Ruth Holmes, a brother Lloyd Orr, and a niece Paula Holmes Greeley.

A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Saturday, November 12th at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.
