Martha Jane (Weaver) Honaker, age 88, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 after a five-year battle with adenoid cystic carcinoma. Born Feb. 5, 1938 in Alliance to Lawrence Elmer (L.E.) and Alta (Youtz) Weaver, Martha graduated from Alliance High School in 1956.
Before marriage, Martha was employed as a secretary at Master Feed & Seed Co. and McKinley Buick Co., and Mount Union Bank (now Huntington Bank) in the bookkeeping department. After her husband’s death, she was employed by East Ohio Machinery Co. as a receptionist/secretary and in the accounts payable department for 10 years and Mount Union College Theatre for over 15 years.
Martha, in years past, enjoyed working and canning produce from her large garden. She collected recipes and cookbooks.
Martha was a member of Science Hill Community Church for 60 plus years and a past member of Beechwood E.U.B. Church (now Beechwood United Methodist). Martha also was a past member of Modern Homemakers Club, Carnation Buds Red Hat, and was an election poll worker for many years.
Martha is survived by daughters, Kay Ann Holton (Thomas) of Utica, OH, Kimberly S. Crum (Robert) and Teresa M. Owens (Eric) of Alliance, and one son, Perry L. Honaker, also of Alliance; grandchildren, Nicolette and Garrett Crum (Emily); great-grandchildren, Parker and Cooper Crum; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Don E. Honaker, whom she married December 28, 1958. They were married 29 years. She also was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Dourm of Alliance, Dorothy Dourm of Deerfield, Lela Barnard of Cortland; and brothers, Ralph, Robert and John Weaver.
At Martha’s request, invitations will be issued for a private family service, with Sue DeHoff officiating. Burial will follow at Alliance City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions honoring Martha’s life can be made to her chosen charities: Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma Research Foundation, American Diabetes Association, Stark County Humane Society, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
