Margaretta Louise Courtney

Margaretta Louise Courtney went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 15, 2024. She passed peacefully with her family by her bedside. Louise was 90 years old. 

She was born September 30, 1933 in Virginia to Emerson and Catherine (Devers) Atkins. Louise was the 2^nd born of 10 children. 

Louise was fun loving and enjoyed her family. She never met a stranger. Louise made a difference in the lives of others throughout her career as a nurse’s aide at Alliance City Hospital and later as an activity director at Sun Valley Nursing Center. She was often called “the sunshine of Sun Valley” by others. 

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Courtney I; her grandson, Bobby Courtney III; granddaughter, Franki Collins; great-grandson, Elijah Phillips; sister, Mary; and brothers, Leonard, James, John, Junior, Bob, Roger, and Clark.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Patricia (Paul) Phillips, Pam (Steve) Cabassa, Bob (Emma) Courtney II, and Scott Courtney; grandchildren, Paula (Jesse) Baughman, Paul (Kristin) Phillips, Missy (Brian) McDermitt, Josh (Brooke) Leask, Steve (Holly) Cabassa Jr., Katie Courtney, Tony (Court) Courtney, and Kerri Miller; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Macie, Joshua, Mathew, Nathan, Daniel, Jake, Brett, Brooke, Mayze, Gracie, Louie, James, Rayahana, Kaidence, Jayda, Bailey, Julien, Asher, Kameron, Kaiden, Kaleb, Kye, Kaleya, and Kloey; and a sister, Christine Ross. 

Per Louise’s wishes, a private family viewing will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home. 

A memorial service will be held at Liberty Bible Church on Thursday, March 21^st at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends.
