Leo John Meidlinger II

August 9, 1956 — June 1, 2025

Leo John "Mick" Meidlinger II, beloved husband and father, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Alliance Ohio, on June 1, 2025. He was 68 years old.

Leo was born on August 9th, 1956 to Marilyn Dolphin and Leo Meidlinger Sr. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Canton, Ohio class of 1975. After high school, he joined the Navy working on the aircraft carrier the USS. Saratoga.

Returning home from the military, he came back to Canton where he lived his entire life. He ended up getting a job at Liquid Control where he met his loving wife of 27 years, Diane.

Leo grew up poor and was determined to do better for himself and his family. He decided to get his CDL and worked for FedEx Freight for over 30 years. For most of his time at FedEx, you could find him running the turnpike every morning, pulling triples from North Jackson, Ohio to South Bend, Indiana and back every day. He had the strongest work ethic of anyone. He tirelessly worked 14 hour days with a goal in place to retire at 59 and a half. But, at 59 and a half, he reached his goal and was able to retire, but he just couldn't give up his job. He finally retired at 67 years old.

He loved vacationing in Myrtle Beach, watching the Three Stooges and westerns. He felt strongly about supporting local businesses and loved to eat out at Baker's Cafe. He and Diane had just purchased an RV and started traveling. Growing up poor, his dream was to own a mustang, he had two that he enjoyed taking to cars shows. Leo also had a huge love for animals.

While his life was unexpectedly cut short, he lived a life to be proud of. With his hard work, he rose above the poverty of his childhood, and he loved Diane and his daughter with everything he had. Even after his passing, Leo continues to help others with his generous gift to Lifebanc.

Leo leaves behind his wife Diane; his daughter, Judy Lilly; and his son-in-law, Darrell Lilly.

At his wishes, there will be no services. And in lieu of flowers, a donation to your local humane society would mean the world to him.
