Larry C. Pyers, age 87, passed away on August 18, 2026. Larry, known for his quick wit and engaging smile, was a devoted husband, father, community leader, businessman, and friend whose life was defined by service to others and a deep commitment to the Alliance community.

Larry was born on July 31, 1939, in Loudonville, Ohio, to Arthur C. and Anna (Ayers) Pyers Ameser. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1957. He worked as a banker starting at Mount Union Bank in 1965 and retiring from Sky Bank in 2024. Larry was a member of Christ United Methodist Church since 1949.

Throughout his life, Larry gave generously of his time, talents, and leadership to numerous organizations and community causes. In 1971, he began a long involvement with the Jaycees where he served as president, treasurer, received Outstanding Jaycee award and became a co-founder of Carnation Days in the Park. His many years of leadership, volunteerism, and civic involvement reflected his belief that a strong community is built by people willing to give their time and energy to make it better.

Larry’s leadership extended well beyond the Jaycees. He also served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, Alliance Country Club, Carnation City Players, Greater Alliance Development Corporation (GADC) and the Alliance Area Development Board. He also served on the Salvation Army Board contributing more than 30 years of service to the organization. In addition, he served as chairman of the Revolving Loan Fund for the City of Alliance, helping support economic development and opportunity throughout the community. In 2001, his dedication to the community was recognized when he received the Spirit of Enterprise Award.

When not working, Larry was an avid sports fan, golfer, softball player and performed in many productions with the Carnation City Players. He enjoyed traveling, delivered Meals on Wheels for over twenty years and spent as much time as possible with his children and grandchildren, of which he was incredibly proud and supportive

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Connie Pyers; his son, Larry F. Pyers (partner Frank); daughter, Lori Sue (spouse Kevin) Pyers-Goodwin; grandchildren, Tanner and Kobe Goodwin Pyers; and sister, Dianna (spouse Vaughn) Erb. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Jeffrey.
