Joseph F. Gusbar

Alliance

Joseph F. Gusbar, 85 years old, of Alliance, passed away on February 25th, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born August 23, 1936 in Jerome, PA to Louis and Mary (Greco) Gusbar.

Joseph was a lifelong Alliance resident.  He graduated from Alliance High School in 1955. He worked at A.C. Williams for 15 years and retired from his last job as manager of Christopher Columbus Society bar.  Joseph was a member of St.  Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance and was also a member of the Christopher Columbus, Dante, Roma and Will Penn Clubs.  Joseph was an avid bowler, golfer, enjoyed horse racing, fishing trips, and playing cards.  What he most enjoyed were his many trips to Las Vegas with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Georgeta (Streza) Gusbar, they had just reached their 64th Anniversary;  four children, Debra (Bryan) Sayers, Louis (Diane) Gusbar, Steve (Aileen) Gusbar and Gina (Bob) Augustein; 12 grandchildren, Amber, Haley, Bryana, Kylee, Veronica, Ashley, Louis, Courtney, Ryan, Justin, Alyssa and Jeremy; 16 great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Mariann Gusbar; brothers-in-law, Nick Streza and Ed Marini; and  many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends from the west coast to the east coast.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Gusbar Gene Gusbar; sister-in-law, Eleanor Marini; brother–in-law, Daniel Codrea; and sister-in-law, Eugenia Codrea.

A memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday March 5th, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. G. David Weikart officiating. The Mass will be livestreamed on the church’s website, www.stjoseph-alliance.org. A private family graveside burial will follow.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in May.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org or to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 427 E Broadway St Alliance, OH.
