Joseph E. Ringwald, age 86 of Alliance, died at 7:30 a.m. Oct. 16, 2006 at Altercare of Alliance.
He was born Oct. 17, 1919 in Alliance, Ohio to Frederick and Caroline (Yarian) Ringwald and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Ringwald retired in 1981 from Transue and Williams Company as a truck driver after 18 years. He was formerly employed at B & W Rush Street plant for 22 years.
He was a member of the First Church of God, where he was a former youth leader, usher, trustee and worked on several church boards. He was also a member of the Transue and Williams Retirees and Civil Conservation Corp. Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors.
Mr. Ringwald is a U.S. Navy WWII veteran having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre.
Survivors include his daughter Barbara J. (DeWayne) Hoffmeyer of Alliance; son Alfred J. (Linda) Ringwald of Helena, Montana; three grandchildren Todd Hoffmeyer, Traci Tschappatt and Joel Ringwald; 6 great-grandchildren Katelyn, Matthew, Andrew, Travis, Tyler and Tori; one sister Emma Fox of Marlboro and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lena Mae (Coss) Ringwald, whom he married Feb. 5, 1941 and who passed away Nov. 17, 1995 and brother Frederick Ringwald Jr.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at First Church of God, 505 N. Lincoln Ave. Alliance, with Pastor Larry Murphy officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
