John G. Whitacre

John G. Whitacre, age 64, of Plain Township, passed away on June 30, 2022.

He was born on October 14, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Raymond E. and Barbara Joan (Brandt) Whitacre.

John graduated from Hoover High School in 1975 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Kent State in 1979.

John worked for Costigans Office Supply, The Alliance Review and Rodman Public Library. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

John’s first love was music; violin, guitar, mandolin, and Scottish and Irish music. John loved his pet goat and cats. He also had a passion for history, specifically Canal History.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Annette Whitacre; his brother, Stuart (Kristine) Whitacre; step-children; an uncle, Robert (Cindy) Brandt; an aunt, Mary Whitacre; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Todd; aunts, uncles, grandparents and a cousin.

A memorial service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Sunday, July 24th at 3:00 p.m. with a visitation two hours prior. Pastor Steve Stultz-Costello will officiate.
