John Joseph Augustein

John Augustein, age 82, passed away on September 17, 2026. He was born on April 16, 1944, in Alliance, to Clemet and Violet Augustein.

John was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during his service. He spent 50 years working at T&W Forge as Vice President of Manufacturing before retiring and later worked as a computer consultant. 

John had a special fondness for computers and enjoyed spending his time writing programs and working on other projects. He also loved camping and spending time outdoors.

He was a longtime member of First United Presbyterian Church, where he served as treasurer. He also served on the boards of Transue & Williams and Stark Federal Credit Union, and as an elder for the Former Bethany Presbyterian Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are Carol, his loving wife of 62 years; Children, Connie (Jim) Burchfield and Robert (Gina) Augustein; Grandchildren, Quinn, Alyssa, Noel, and Jeremy; Step-Grandchildren, Sophie, Hannah, Greta, and Ruby; Brother, Charles (Jackie) Augustein; Special niece and nephew, Charles “Chuckie” Bevington and Jennifer Yoder, along with many other nieces and nephews; along with his beloved dog, Holly.

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brothers, Paul and Richard Augustein; and his sister, Margaret Bevington.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 25, at First United Presbyterian Church, 265 W Beech St, Alliance, OH 44601.

Family and friends are invited to a one-hour visitation before the service to extend condolences.
