Jerry E. Shilling, age 73, of Deerfield, passed away at 12:15 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center.
He was born January 12, 1941, in Deerfield, Ohio, to Harry and Josephine (Libert) Shilling.
Jerry attended Deerfield and Southeast Schools. He retired from Robinson Memorial Hospital as a supervisor in the cleaning department and was also sexton for Deerfield Cemetery.
He attended Deerfield Friends Church and was president of the Deerfield Cemetery Association. He also enjoyed playing the organ and taking care of the cemetery.
Survivors include his sisters, Donna Shilling of Beaver Falls, PA and Emma (Carl) Lamp of Deerfield; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Pat Shilling of Alliance and Sally Shilling of Atwater and his beloved dog, Max.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harry, Bob and Harold; and a sister, Rosemary Martin.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, January 20, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jody Hill officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Deerfield Cemetery.
