James P. Hoover

June 10, 1954 — April 27, 2024

Jim Hoover, age 69, passed away at his home after a brief battle with cancer on April 27, 2024. 

He was born on June 10, 1954, in Alliance, to Herb and Mae (Burns) Hoover.

Jim graduated from Marlington High School in 1972. He worked at American Steel Foundries until his retirement and then went on to work in maintenance at Altercare Nursing Home in Louisville. Jim was a member of St. Joseph Church Maximo and the Louisville VFW.

Jim enjoyed playing cards and coaching baseball. Home was home to everyone. Jim loved taking care of his home where he always welcomed friends and family with open arms. He was always “MacGyvering” things around the house and also loved animals, especially his dog, Daisy.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Samantha (Dave) Kerns; siblings, Paul (Carol) Hoover, Joanne (Bob) Knam, Mike (Louise) Hoover and Dave (Becky) Hoover; grandchildren, Colton and Meleah Kerns; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn Hoover; and his daughter, Molly.  

A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Church Maximo on Wednesday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery Maximo at a later date.
