James "Jim" L. Charlton passed away surrounded by family and friends on June 11, 2025 after a brief illness.
He was born November 19, 1944 in Alliance, Ohio to Frank and Bessie (Mohr) Charlton.
A graduate of Alliance High School, Jim worked as an Electrician for Ford Motor Company at the Canton, Lorain and Walton Hills plants for forty years. He was an avid skier and traveler, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, golfing, fishing, and watching sports on TV.
Jim served with the National Guard and was an active member of the Alliance BPOE Elks 467, the Tadmor and Alliance Shrine Club, as well as Conrad Masonic Lodge.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Alliance.
Survivors include daughter, Michele (Shawn) Schillig; son, Brad (Tracy) Charlton, both of Marlboro; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jacob Charlton; nieces and nephews, Mickey Charlton, Debbie Lavoy, Tamara Smith, Tracy McCann, Bryan Brogan and Mike Brogan; and longtime best friend, Sandy Furcolow.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the lovely Patricia Jean (Brogan) Charlton, whom he married January 9, 1970, and who died September 4, 2013; his brother, Chester Charlton; sister, Dorothy Taylor; nieces, Kathy Lynn and Sherry Godard; and nephew, Gary Taylor.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 17th at 10:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior.
Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
