James Brown

James H. Brown, age 82, of Alliance, OH passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family, on October 15, 2026.

He was born on September 1, 1944, in Alliance, OH to John and Marie (Bollia) Brown. James attended Marlington High School, worked alongside his family on their farm in Washington Township, and then began his over 4-decade career as a well-respected bricklayer at Monter Mason Construction and retired from Valentine Construction. James was a member of Local 6 Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen in Canton, OH and of the Alliance Elks. He was a handyman and enjoyed tinkering, tools, and construction. James also loved to go deer hunting, but more than anything in this world he treasured time spent with his grandchildren who made him so proud.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Marianne; children, Chris (Ron) Daugherty, Susan (Eric) Sanderbeck; and Diane (Bill) Yarnell; grandchildren, Kayla (Kelly) Brown, Ryan (Jennie) Sanderbeck, Rachael (Malcolm) Guy, Rylie Sanderbeck, Olivia Yarnell, and Josh Yarnell; great-grandchildren, Clare and Amelia Sanderbeck and Siena Brown.

He also leaves behind his beloved brother, Larry (June) Brown and niece, Patti (Tom) McFeely, brother and sister-in-law, Gene (Lorene) Cook and nieces, Angela (Matt) Marshall and Julie (John) Starzynski, and many other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jerry, Paul, Francis, Joe, Ed, and Paulene; nephew, Tony, niece Renell Brown; and many other loved ones. A private family service will be held.
