She was born June 29, 1959 in Alliance, Ohio to Curtis L. and Louise V. (Bonner) Riddle Sr.
Gianna attended school in Chicago, including Olive Harvey College.
She worked in nursing, and as a caregiver for Alzheimer’s patients, including her extended family as she cared for Mr. Grandon. Gianna was a Senior Care Specialist for Cambridge Home Health Care, and was a Medical Transcriptionist.
A member and Deaconess at Second Baptist Church, Gianna enjoyed watching Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and Animal Planet with her beloved Opie. She enjoyed playing card games on the computer and most importantly, she loved spending precious moments with her husband, her beloved Opie, sister, brothers, and her families, the Lawson’s and Grandon’s.
Those left to cherish her memory are her beloved Opie R. Lawson; her siblings, Michael Wade, Deborah (Willie) Bell, Diane Olutosin, Carmen Riddle, and Curtis L. Riddle Jr.; her mommy, Johnnie Ruth Lawson; and the Lawson clan; her Grandon family; and special nephews, Trell and Tevin.
Gigi was a second mother to Opie’s brothers, Kilo Hardy and Marvin Hardy; and also leaves a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Weatherspoon; brother, William “Freddie” Wade; brother-in-law, Baye Olutosin; and her husband, Larry E. Lawson, whom she married June 19, 1999, and who passed on March 27, 2022.
Gianna’s family would like to give a special thank you to Jeff Brooks and her neighbor, Dawn Stoup.
