Evelyn R. (Pettit) Elliott, age 94, of Alliance, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2012, at Altercare of Alliance.
A lifelong resident of Alliance, she was born January 28, 1918, in Alliance, to Raymond and Nellie (Johnson) Morrissey and adopted by Samuel and Clara (Johnson) Pettit.
She was a 1937 graduate of Alliance High School and a 1938 graduate of Alliance Business College, working as a secretary for more than 30 years.
Evelyn was a member and active in the Sebring Church of Christ for many years. She was formerly active in the Alliance Secretarial Association, was Alliance Toastmistress, Codi Chapter NSA, Women's Division of the Alliance Chamber of Commerce, 65 year member of the Eastern Star No. 296, the U.S. Trotting Association, Sports Car Club of America, the Alliance Genealogical Society and the Alliance Historical Society.
Her grandparents, George and Susannah Pettit, built their home in 1860, and it is in the Ohio Registry of Homesteads, where Evelyn resided for 81 years.
Survivors include her many loving friendships which she cherished in her journey through her wonderful life.
Preceding her in death were her parents; adoptive parents; and her husband, Lorin "Hank" Elliott, whom she married October 5, 1940.
No services will be held. Interment will be at Marlboro Cemetery.
