Evangelene Louise (Baker) Custar

Evangelene Louise (Baker) Custar, age 92, of Alliance passed away at 11:07 a.m., Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Altercare of Alliance.

She was born October 2, 1927 in Alliance to Arthur and Martha (Day) Baker and was a lifelong Alliance resident.

A graduate of Alliance High School, Evangelene was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Annemarie Haiss.

She was a member of First Christian Church and enjoyed sewing, quilting, making crafts and caning chairs.

Survivors include her son, Barry (Peg) Mitchell; daughter, Rebecca (Robert) Schwenning; stepchildren, Shannon (Ed) Leeson, and Melissa (John) Rigdon; grandchildren, Eric and Ryan; step grandchildren, Robert, Mackenzie, Madison, Ashley, Sharon, Rose, Russell, Chuck and Jentzen and several great-grandchildren; brothers, Nelson Baker and Walter (Christel) Baker and sister, Marjorie Gamble.

She was preceded in death by husband, Alva, whom she married January 22, 1977; son, Steve; granddaughter, Cory; sister, Florence; stepson, Robert and step grandson, Anthony.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 28, 2020 at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Sue DeHoff officiating.  Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Thursday February 27 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
