Elaine B. Burger, age 83, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026.
She was born December 30, 1942, in Alliance, Ohio, to the late Bernard and Lorena (Michel) Ottle.
Elaine graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960. After high school, she worked at the Timken Roller Bearing Company before beginning her most cherished role—loving wife and mother to her five children. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to being a homemaker and working alongside her husband, Ray, on the family farm. She especially loved baling hay and took great pride in her meticulous bookkeeping.
Elaine found joy in keeping a spotless home, tending her gardens, and nurturing her beautiful flowers. She was often seen in the kitchen with her apron on baking homemade sweets to share. She loved sewing quilts to celebrate life’s special moments, creating keepsakes that will be treasured for generations.
She enjoyed being outdoors—swimming, walking, and spending time in nature—and remained deeply involved in the lives of her extended family and friends. Nothing brought her more joy than cheering on her grandchildren; whether bundled up on cold sidelines, or seated proudly in the bleachers, she was their biggest supporter, always clapping the loudest and celebrating every milestone. Elaine also loved music, often blaring her CDs at home, attending dances, or watching bands with friends.
A faithful member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Elaine was deeply involved in parish life to include Senior Citizens, Bingo Lunch, Bus Trips and Altar and Rosary Society as both co-chair and member, and especially enjoyed the Quilt Committee. She also loved playing on the church’s softball and volleyball teams, proudly taking the field alongside her family and friends.
Elaine is reunited in heaven with her late husband, Raymond, with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She is survived by her five children, Allen Burger, Don (Cindy) Burger, Diane (Kenny) Hoying, Jerry Burger, and Debbie (Brian) Cowgill; ten grandchildren, Bethany (Brendan) Rose, Kadie and Brady (Emily) Burger, Kristina (Matt) Davis, Kara (Nick) Pandolfi, Kylie and Cameron Hoying, Clayton (Brittany) Cowgill, Kasey (Kody) Lowden, and Karissa Cowgill; six great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Deocan, Kolter, Sophia, Braxton and Kaden, with two more on the way; one step-granddaughter, Ashley Smith; and two step–great-grandchildren, Allyson and Maverick. She is also survived by her sisters Darlene, Eileen, Charlene (Tom), and Marlene, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
