Edwin Franklin Clapsaddle Jr., 91, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026. He was born on July 10, 1935.

Ed was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle whose greatest joy was his family. He lived a life marked by integrity, patriotism, kindness, and a wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him.

In his younger years, Ed was active in the Boy Scouts, an experience that helped shape the values he carried throughout his life. A true American patriot, Ed proudly flew the American flag for decades, a symbol of the deep love and pride he held for his country. He was an enthusiast of Civil War history, spending countless hours reading, collecting books, and visiting historic battlefields.

Ed devoted his career to General Motors, where he worked as a skilled tool and die maker. He took pride in his craftsmanship and strong work ethic.

He found his greatest enjoyment outdoors. An avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and watching the birds that visited his yard brought him tremendous joy. He was exceptionally well-read, quick-witted, and known for his sharp mind.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Clapsaddle, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage; his daughter, Amy Jo Clapsaddle; his father, Edwin Franklin Clapsaddle Sr.; his mother, Esther Clapsaddle; and his sisters, Ann Marshall and Linda Wiggs.

He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Cathy Rogers, Delores Atwell, Susan Gray, Ronda Stillwell and Debra Fawver; sister, Joyce Taylor; ten grandchildren; Scott, Lisa, Heather, Johnny, Gina, Josh, Shannon, Nikki, Joe, and Ian; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.

Ed's legacy is found not only in the life he built, but in the family he loved, the country he cherished, and the countless memories he created with those fortunate enough to know him.

The family would like to thank Aultman Alliance Hospital Emergency Department and Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center for their exceptional care.
