Dorothy E. (Robb) Smythe

Dorothy Elizabeth (Robb) Smythe, age 93, passed away at 9:05 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Brookdale Senior Living in Salem.

She was born September 7, 1926, in Chester, West Virginia to John and Sarah Elizabeth (Lake) Robb.

Dorothy received her Bachelor’s in Education at West Liberty State College and her Master’s at West Virginia University. She taught 3rd grade at Knox Elementary School for 26 years and also at Minerva Local Schools.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and Retired Teachers Association and was active in her church.

Survivors include her daughter, Robbyn (Thomas) Lee; son, Bill (Cynthia) Smythe; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Daniel) Lucy, Ryan (Teddi) Lee, Brianne (Chris) Steffen, and Joseph Smythe; and great-grandchildren, Belle, Maci, Deacon, and Piper.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Smythe; and three brothers, Charles, John Jr. and Donald Robb.

A private family service will be held with a memorial service open to the public at a later date. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
