Doris Irene Syx Gobely, age 87, of Salem, died at 4:35 a.m. Dec. 21, 2006 at Salem Community Hospital.
She was born March 30, 1919 in Salinesville, Ohio to Frank and Leora (Hardgrove) Faloon and lived most of her life in Columbiana County.
Mrs. Gobely worked for Homestead Meats, John Liber Meats, Knox Elementary School, and as a cook at various local restaurants.
She attended Bethel United Church of Christ and enjoyed reading, shopping, and traveling.
Survivors include her children Leonard and Faye Syx of Alliance, Gary and Cheri Syx of Tennessee, and Bonnie (Paul) Finch of Salem; 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Harold Lester Syx, her second husband, Glenwood I. Gobely, brothers, Chalmer Faloon and Earl Faloon, sister, Vietta Faloon England, daughter, Joyce Anne Syx, and grandchildren, Timothy Syx, Rebecca Anne Finch, and Patricia Syx.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Davis of Bethel United Church of Christ officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery.
