Doris Ann Brown

Doris Ann Brown, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022 with her husband of 70 years by her side.

Doris was born February 10, 1930 to Edwin and Lucille Rufibach.

She was a 1948 graduate of Louisville High School. On September 22, 1951 she married Kenneth Brown and became a resident of Alliance. Before becoming a mother, Doris worked as a telephone operator for Ohio Bell in Canton and Alliance. Later in life, Doris took pride in working with her husband, Ken, as a custodian for Union Avenue United Methodist Church where she was a member. Doris loved knitting and presented many loved ones with a wedding afghan or baby blanket. Her love for movies was apparent until the end; she was able to name the actors and scenes of most movies when mentioned in conversation. She also loved to travel and her family treasures many memories from trips throughout the country. In the last years of her life, Doris’ biggest pleasure was visiting with her family.

Doris and Ken were parents of three boys, Keith (Margaret), David (Anjie) and the late Lee (Betsy) Brown. They have eight grandchildren, Ryan (Missy) Brown, Dustin (Jen) Brown, Allyson (Jayson) Gray, Morgan (Tony) Whitten, Clay (Jessie) Caufield, Rylee (Ethan) Elias, Amanda Brown (Trent Loehring) and Michael (Emily) Brown; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Lee; and a sister, Arlene (Albert) Sickles.

A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Thursday, June 9th at 12:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Reverend Becky Weamer will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Union Avenue United Methodist Church, 1843 S. Union, Alliance, Ohio 44601.
