Dennis L. Bruderly

Dennis “Denny” L. Bruderly, 77, passed away on September 29, surrounded by the love of his family, after living with Alzheimer’s disease for the past four years.

Denny was born November 15, 1948, in Alliance, Ohio, the oldest son of Roland and Ethel (Yaggi) Bruderly. A lifetime Ohioan, he spent most of his life in Alliance, where he graduated from Alliance High School (class of ‘67) before attending the University of Akron and earning a degree in civil engineering.

On his birthday in 1975, Denny married Arlene (Rometo). Together they celebrated 50 years of marriage in November 2025, having built a life filled with family, friendships, traditions, and many great memories. In 2021, Denny and Arlene moved to Perrysburg, Ohio, to be closer to their sons and grandchildren.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Denny founded and operated R&E Custom Fabricating and BRD Displays with his father before eventually starting his own business, Garage Door Openers and Doors, all located in Sebring, Ohio. He was a man who could fix almost anything and kept busy with projects, including custom made gifts from his woodshop to the delight of friends and family.

Denny was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Some of his favorite memories were of trips with his buddies to their Chateau Beam hunting camp in southern Ohio. Always a competitor, Denny enjoyed bowling, golf, and championship baseball teams in his youth. He was a member of Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, Sebring Country Club, and a life member of Alliance Elks Lodge 467.

His sports fandom provided Denny with great enjoyment - but consistent frustration. Devoted to Cleveland franchises, he loved watching them compete, though not always successfully. In later years, he adopted his sons’ Michigan Wolverines (classes of ‘99 and ‘03) which gave him considerably more opportunities to celebrate and was a source of great pride. He was rarely seen without a Michigan hat.

Above all else, Denny was a family man. He treasured his seven grandchildren and took immense pride in watching them grow. He truly cherished the time he spent with them both individually and collectively during family vacations. Pawley’s Island, South Carolina served as the backdrop to Denny’s most fond vacation memories.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene; his sons, Michael (Elise) of Dexter, Michigan, and Kurt (Robin) of Perrysburg, Ohio; and his stepson, Sean Flaherty of Marietta, Georgia. His grandchildren are Owen and Charlotte (Michael); Camryn and Jordyn (Kurt); and Graeme, Liam, and Alastar (Sean). Denny is also survived by his brother, Delmer (Patty) Bruderly.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie (Bruderly) Simons.

A funeral service will be held at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home on Friday, October 9th at 1:00 p.m. with a visitation two hours prior.
