Carl "Moon" David Wervey, age 61, of Sebring, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014, at his home.
He was born May 9, 1952, in Alliance, to Robert James and Marjorie Ruth (Hallett) Wervey.
A graduate of Marlington High School, Carl worked for Transue & Williams, RWJ Sprinkler Co. and for Wervey Pipe Organ Restoration.
He was a member of the Dante Club and the William Penn Club and loved his motorcycle. For over 25 years, Carl was Santa Claus for various organizations and many children in the area.
Carl is survived by his children, Aaron Wervey of Alliance, Brittney Balcerzak Mellott of Sebring and Matthew Balcerzak of Cranston, RI; grandchildren, Brice, Austin and Kaitlyn Wervey, Devin McMasters, and Jacob, Becca, Caitlin and Lucas Mellott; sisters, Barbara W. Burns of New York City, and Roberta J. Wervey of Cuyahoga Falls; sister-in-law, Janis Wervey; nephews, Robert Martin Burns II of New York City and Brian Wervey of Alliance; and many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Richard and Peter Wervey.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Cassie Wervey, Will Mellott, Tess Osborne, Annie Graber and Deb Saeger for their loving care of "Moon".
Services will be held at 11a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at Cassaday-Turkle-Christian Funeral Home with Pastor Karl Wyant officiating. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
